Annoying News From The Nigerian Police Force - Police Officer Who Killed Igbo Traders ( Apo Six) Reinstated, To Be Paid Salary Arrears

The annoying news reaching us today is that the police officer who ordered the killing of the 6 innocent Apo traders 12 years ago has been reinstated and to be paid arrears of salaries and allownance. Buahri's administration is just known for reinstating everything evil. The IG should explain to Nigerians why he approved the reinstatement  of this officer.

Although, the court acquitted him for lack of evidence and on grounds technicalities, this does not mean he is totally innocent and should be reinstated. The witness account is there. The right thing to do  for him is outright dismissal with no appeal.

 These are the documents

Here is the news report.
The Nigerian Police Force has ordered the reinstatement of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Danjuma an officer responsible for the extra-judicial of killing five young auto spare parts traders and a young woman on June 7, 2005, in Apo area of FCT Abuja.

The directive for his reinstatement was contained in a Police wireless message (DTO 1718000/11/2017) addressed to the Police Service Commission, Sahara Reporters say.

It said the reinstatement of Danjuma and other police officers included in the message followed their successful "appeal of their dismissal from the Force".

The officers are Danjuma Ibrahim, a Deputy Commissioner of Police; Fausat Azeez Oduwole, an Assistant Commissioner of Police; Bethram C Onuoha, Chief Superintendent, Okwuonu Allwell, a Chief Superintendent; Nonyerem Ejike Akubuike; a Deputy Superintendent of Police; Barakiya Yusuf and Onuorah Emmanuel, both Assistant Superintendents of Police. However, Oseni Tajudeen, whose appeal was rejected, had his dismissal upheld.

Refreshing your memory.

Apo Six killing case is centered on the alleged extra-judicial killing of five young auto-spare parts dealers in Apo, a satellite town in Abuja, and a young woman by officers of the Nigerian Police on the night of June 7, 2005.

The victims, Ekene Isaac Mgbe, Ifeanyi Ozor, Chinedu Meniru, Paulinus Ogbonna, Anthony and Augustina Arebu, were said to be returning from a night club when they were stopped at a police checkpoint.

The police had claimed that the victims, aged between 21 and 25 years, were members of an armed robbery gang that had opened fire on the officers when accosted at the checkpoint.

The public outcry led to the setting up of a judicial panel of inquiry into the incident by former President Olusegun Obasanjo  after he found the police account to be false and recommended the trial of five officers for extra-judicial killings.

The indicted officers are Danjuma Ibrahim, Othman Abdulsalami, now at large, Nicholas Zakaria, Ezekiel Acheneje, Baba Emmanuel, and Sadiq Salami. The defendants had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

But 12 years later, after the long trial  judgement was given.

The five officers accused of the killings and eight other police witnesses eventually testified before the panel of inquiry that Mr. Danjuma Ibrahim, the most senior of the accused officers, had allegedly ordered the killings of the youth.

On march 10th 2017 The Chief Judge of the FCT, Ishaq Bello gave his judgement. In his judgment, he condemned to death, Emmanuel Baba and Ezekiel Acheneje, and discharged, Danjuma Ibrahim, Nicholas Zakariah and Sadiq Salami.

They were charged with culpable homicide for the killing of Ifeanyi Ozor, Chinedu Meniru, Isaac Ekene, Paulinus Ogbonna, Anthony Nwodike and Augustina Arebun.

The five were among six arraigned over the killing of the traders on June 7, 2005

Othman Abdulsalam, the then Divisional Police Officer in Apo, and the sixth defendant on the charge sheet is currently on the run.

This judgment has been rejected by different interest groups.

One of the protesting group through their spokespersons, Chemezie Ifeh and Motimor Ihejirka, said that they were not happy with the judgment which condemned only two and the main person was set free.

“Danjuma Ibrahim, the DCP killed Ifeanyi Ozor and now he is free and he was the one who gave the order to the two junior officers to kill the remaining five.

“We demand that if Danjuma would be free; let the two condemned officers be set free because they acted under the instruction of their superior.

Now, it is disgusting for the Nigerian police force to reinstate this oficer who was fingered as the brain behind the evil act.

Every decent Nigeria must lend their voice to condemn this action by NP. this is totally unacceptable
